[Translation] “What kind of girl is [otome game protagonist]?”

I recently bought Volume 24 of Sweet Princess, which had brief interviews with the Otomate staff in regards to the protagonists of their game projects. I thought that the way the directors framed the protagonists was interesting, so I wanted to share them.

If you see “director” or “development staff” cited as the one making the comments, it’s because the magazine credited them as such rather than writing their actual names. It’s a mystery to me too, but anyway, on with the actual content. I was not very sure how to romanise the name for the Jakou no Lyla director, so I left it in the original kanji. The scope of series covered, in the order the magazine gave:

  • Cendrillon Palika
  • Tlicolity Eyes
  • Katakoi Contrast – way of parting –
  • Jakou no Lyla – Allure of MUSK –
  • Charade Maniacs
  • Kurenai no Homura – Sanada Ninpouchou
  • Collar X Malice – Unlimited –
  • Piofiore no Banshou
  • Shiro to Kuro no Alice – Twilight Line –
  • VARIABLE BARRICADE

The comments on Collar X Malice and Shiro to Kuro no Alice were in regards to the fandiscs, so the question is more of “how has the protagonist changed in the fandisc” rather than “what kind of person is she”. I am not a professional, so feel free to correct me if there are any glaring mistakes.
