A first, from sonic-nancy-fan! Thank you, I think you’re real neat too.

  2. Thank the bloggers for the award
  3. Answer the questions from the one who nominated you
  4. Nominate 7 to 10 bloggers
  5. Ask them 7 questions

My brain is blanking out thinking of questions, so I’ll skip 4 and 5.

Questions (from sonic-nancy-fan)

  1. Why did you start your blog?
  2. If you could pick on otome character (including side characters) to live with (romantically or platonically), who would it be?
  3. What is your favorite otome game OP/ED song?
  4. What is your favorite character song?
  5. What is a side character you wish had a route?
  6. What is an obscure otome game that you enjoyed?
  7. What is the most you have spent on an otome game?

  • Why did you start your blog?

I finished playing Kyoukai no Shirayuki and felt like I had to yell about it somewhere that wasn’t just the void of my Plurk account, so here I am. I’m not quite sure what particularly compelled me to…things just happen. I looked up Kyoukai no Shirayuki on a whim, got the game on a whim, decided to write up more about it on a whim…

Fun fact: the title of this blog originates from a Time Travelers song, “The Door Into Summer”. I first heard it as “backdoor into summer”, liked the line, and ran with it. On that note, I haven’t finished Time Travelers. I think it’s been a few years since I last watched a playthrough…the only things I remember about it are this song and the somewhat hilarious QTE cutscenes.

  • If you could pick on otome character (including side characters) to live with (romantically or platonically), who would it be?

I’m drawing a blank. I like my own space, so I’ll pass on that opportunity.

  • What is your favorite otome game OP/ED song?

Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk

SWEET CLOWN

Gakuen Tokkyuu Hotokenser

I really like Psychedelica of the Ashen Hawk’s opening for the visuals. In terms of music and atmosphere, the SWEET CLOWN opening is extremely enrapturing. I cannot not mention the Gakuen Tokkyuu Hotokenser opening, because it captures the exact kind of corniness and SHOUNEN SPIRIT I love from tokusatsu. Thank you, TWOFIVE.

As for endings, my favourite one would be the one from KLAP’s fandisc! The ending movies have Koyomi and the characters texting each other and it’s adorable. I don’t think I’ve seen other otome games be this creative with ending movies that isn’t just rehashing route CGs with varying filters. I wish there were official videos I could link to…they’re super cute. Look at these stamps (from said endings). I cannot get over how good they are.

  • What is your favorite character song?

Citron (05:16)

Homare (04:06)

I drew a blank on this as well until I remembered Citron and Homare’s character songs (from A3!), which are the apex of music. They’re so lively and wild. I love them. I remember looping their demo tracks so many times…A3 is a pinnacle of innovation. It’s been nearly 3 years and I have not heard anything else that top these in terms of fun.

If we’re talking about otome games, I don’t think I’ve listened to any from there.

  • What is a side character you wish had a route?

I don’t feel strongly about this since I’ll take whatever a game is willing to give me. I do remember wanting Chizuru to have the choice to go with Sen in Hakuouki, though. Let me date all the girls or designated best friends.

  • What is an obscure otome game that you enjoyed?

If obscure is referring to indie games, I constantly think about Meeting in the Flesh. The writing style of the game is such a treat and I kept thinking “GOD DAMN HOW IS IT POSSIBLE I CAN PLAY SOMETHING THIS GOOD FOR FREE” when I was going through it.

I was very happy to give money to the game and get the mini booklet. It certainly gave me much more enjoyment than some other commercial games I paid for. (Will I take this opportunity to diss 7’scarlet, even though my friend lent it to me rather than me buying it? Yes.)

  • What is the most you have spent on an otome game?

If we’re talking strictly games, it’s the standard amount of 60 to 80 bucks, which was what I spent on the limited edition for Cendrillon Palika. I spent quite a bit on the Geten no Hana Yumeakari Aizouban platinum box as well. However, if we’re talking about general goods, that amount would be (redacted). Frankly speaking, I’ve spent way more money on game-related merchandise than games, heh.

That was fun. Blogs are fun. Thank you to everyone out there living their best life and curating the content they want to put out to the world.

In the meantime, I’ve been grinding the Stranger event in A3!, and waiting for more packages to come in. I’m still debating how much I want to spend on getting Haruka 7, if I make a move to get it…I really need to get back to my commercial otome backlog.
